Nutella Brownies revisited

I’ve told you about my eternal love for Nutella. Also, my personal favourite recipe has always been the two-bite Nutella brownies, so I was very sceptical when I came across this recipe from my Ricardo magazine. I mean, sure, every recipe I’ve ever tried of his turned out to be the best thing I’ve ever eaten. But in my head, nothing could beat the three ingredient two-bite brownies.

I was wrong. This recipe is excellent. The brownie jury aka my husband voted in favour of these brownies being way better than the ones I usually make. They are chewy, sticky and very rich.

The best Nutella Brownies

  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml) salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup (250 ml) Nutella
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) brown sugar
  • 1 tsp(5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) melted unsalted butter, cooled slightly

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (170°C). Line the bottom of a 8 inch* (2o cm) square pan with parchment paper and butter the sides.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the flour and salt. Reserve.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs, nutella, brown sugar and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  4. Add the flour mixture, alternating with the melted butter.
  5. Transfer the batter to the pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out with a few crumbs attached (not completely clean), 35 to 40 minutes.
  7. Cool in the pan for about 2 hours. Unmould and cut into squares.

* I don’t own an 8 inch square pan, so I used my 10 inch one instead, my brownies are much thinner :(
