Double Chocolate Chip Scones

February 24th, 2012
I might not be the best authority on scones, being that I’ve only tried them for the first time last year (with this recipe). However, if these don’t seem like proper scones to you, I will kindly disregard your comments, kidding (not really). Proper or not, they are pretty awesome, whatever you choose to call them.

Double Chocolate Chip Scones

  • 1½ cups plus 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup reese chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp. butter, melted
  • Additional sugar for sprinkling

  1. Preheat the oven to 375˚ F.  Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and chocolate chips.
  3. Add the heavy cream and stir until the mixture forms into a dough. Finish kneading the dough by hand.
  4. Form the dough into 1/4 cup sized balls and place on the cookie sheet.
  5. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.  Bake 15 minutes, until lightly browned.
